*backflips around upsetting canon events to write happy headcanons* parkour
okay no but you can’t tell me that wizards would have absolutely nO IDEA about muggle stuff (except for maybe pureblood extremists but y’know)
but i mean like, muggleborns interacting with their classmates like ‘oh my god did you hear about the new thing that just came out it’s callED A TELEVISION AND YOU CAN WATCH PICTURES ON IT’ and then a pureblood overhears like ‘oh like this?’ and holds out a photo but the muggleborn shakes her head excitedly and whispers ‘no better' and then the next summer holidays they invite their pureblood friends over to watch and they're so amazed they go home and insist to their parents they buy one for themselves
muggleborns and halfbloods bringing their mobile phones to school just in case but alas the rumours are true and the dumb magical field is messing with the electronics but their friends catch them tossing their phone on their bed in annoyance and get curious, and when they explain what it is, their friends wonder why they bother with owls.
and like yeah, brooms are great but, damn they get uncomfortable and cold during winter, and car seats are so soft and there’s heating … and floo powder and apparition may be efficient but once you’ve gotten out at the wrong grate you’re probably hesitant to try it again, and yo, splinching anyone?
basically what i’m trying to say is that as great as magic is, i can’t see how muggleborns would completely throw away their culture to adopt the magical world - especially if it’s so racist and prejudiced against them (i doubt a muggleborn would have stuck around in the wizarding world after being bullied extensively through school, but that’s a different post). the two would blend - especially when muggleborns/muggles get together with purebloods - and i really can’t see how most witches and wizards would remain ignorant (unless there’s some sort of an inherent, universal consciousness of magical superiority, no matter how ‘accepting’ of muggles and muggleborns you are). i’m fairly sure arthur weasley would not have been as odd as the books made him out to be.
